The Fire Services Acts 1981 & 2003 and The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 requires fire extinguishers to be inspected and maintained at least yearly in accordance with the requirements of I.S. 291:2002. Which service parts are included in the inspection charge?
All of them! We don’t charge separately for O-rings, tamper seal, safety pin, gauge dot, label, or lubricant.

Are spare parts included in the inspection charge?
No, spare parts are priced individually if required.

What is a logbook and why do I need one?
A logbook records all details of the inspected extinguishers, e.g. location, size, type, condition, work undertaken, etc. It is a statutory requirement that all extinguishers have a unique ID number and a corresponding entry in the logbook. It is also an essential tool to help calculate which extinguishers are due next for scheduled test-discharge.

Do you issue a Certificate of Conformity to I.S. 291:2002?
Yes, it will list the number and type of fire extinguishers inspected.

Do you provide a fire safety survey during inspection?
Yes, we will let you know if you need to make any improvement in your provision of fire-fighting equipment and fire safety signage.

Do I have to sign a contract?
No, you are free to change service provider at any time.

How often do CO2 cylinders need to be pressure tested?
Carbon dioxide extinguishers must be hydrostatically pressure tested 10 years from the date of manufacture and every 5 years thereafter.

How many extinguishers are test-discharged per year?
I.S. 291:2002 requires that 20% of the total number of dry powder and CO2 extinguishers are test-discharged during annual maintenance (where the number is 4 or less 1 is test-discharged) and that 33% of the total number of water and foam extinguishers are test-discharged (where the number is 2 or less 1 is test-discharged).
